What is it that you're seeking from therapy/a therapist? Someone to give you answers, someone to listen, or perhaps a space to process current or past events? If you're experiencing thoughts, emotions or repeatedly playing out patterns that you would rather not, then therapy could be a great space to work through this. Whilst I do not have all the answers, I can help you realise that the answers you seek are within and together we can bring these to light for you to implement when it feels right
About me and my practice
The nature of my private practice is to give others the level of support that was so invaluable to me. This is what drives me. In my late 30s I retrained as a therapist due to a desire and dedication to helping and giving back to others. Fully qualified and now also teaching counselling, I treat my clients holistically, looking at all elements that may be contributing to their current concerns. I offer safety, understanding, and a commitment to growing a relationship with you where you can share without fear of judgement. From this place, change can come and confidence can grow.
My hopes for you are that you achieve whatever goals you desire. I hope that you will grow to trust me and that through working collaboratively we can get you to where you would rather be. I believe we all have the potential to shine, but life circumstances can dull us - this I would like to change. I have seen & experienced that when body, mind and soul are all working together a person can flourish, no matter what has gone before. This is why, if you would like, I work holistically. I don't believe that any problem is too small for counselling. If it matters to you it matters.
Experience
I have worked with adults struggling with many mental health concerns including (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, disordered eating, social anxiety & PTSD. I work a lot with trauma and have experience with both victims and perpetrators of abuse. I trained at a men's well-being centre and 85% of my clients have been male.
In addition to my counselling diploma, I have an NVQ in Health & Social Care & am certificated as a Trauma Informed Coach. I am also ASIST trained (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training). For me, teaching counselling is very important as I have seen many unethical counsellors in my time, and see teaching as a way to lay strong foundations for future ethical and moral therapists. I am enhancing my professional skills with a course on working somatically with trauma, and a Level 5 counselling certificate.
I'm Trained In - Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Transpersonal Therapy, Person Centred Theory, Internal Family Systems, Transactional Analysis
For you this can mean there's real versatility with how we can work and I can adapt to best meet your needs. No script, no clichd responses.
